The Infrared NewsWelcome to The Predator’s Eye News—your source of information about infrared technology and its applications. |

Converting infrared light into usable electricityWouldn’t it be amazing if the display screen on your phone, tablet or watch were able to recharge your device’s batteries using ambient light? It would allow you to use your device indefinitely without the hassle of charging it all the time or the worry that your batteries are almost dead. One company, Ubiquitous Energy thinks it has come up with a solution. Using ClearView Power technology, a microscopic film is applied to a glass surface and using ambient light it converts both ultraviolet and infrared light waves (which cannot be seen with the human eye) into electricity. This film can be used to coat any glass surface and maintains up to 90% visibility. Although it is currently in the prototype phase, the concept is fascinating and has the potential to completely change how we power our homes, cars, electronics and anything else that has a glass surface. |
